A Virtual Desktop compuer to switch between linux and windows?
Well im running on 1 pc with linux and windows.
The bad part is is it takes for ever to switch between them.
Im running on a 256mb computer, please recomment a free or evaluating program.

When running a virtual machine, you base hardware has to have enough resources that you can run the base OS and then the virtual machine program PLUS the virtual machine.
So if you need a minimum 256 Mb to run your Linux OS, and 256 MB to run the guest OS, then you will need 500 Mb of RAM minimum on your machine.
I run OpenSuse 10.3 and VirtualBox. I have 1.5 GB of ram available so I allocate 512 Mb to the Virtual Machine and still have 1 GB available for the main system.
You are going to have to beef up your hardware before you can successfully work with virtual machines
Multisite Efficiency: A Console Switch Improves Any Company
To understand the importance of a console switch, Information Technology (IT) professionals need to have a grip on the importance of a single console. In facilities with a large number of PCs and desktop computers, a console is the device that links these computers to a single source. Very large computer technology companies such as Sun Microsystems and IBM operate with a console on many floors, of the business operation. Each console may link computers with similar functions so that data rich users can find their network in one place while Human Resources employees will find their resource on another device.
A console gives its user the ability to manage any computer's operations from a single location, by linking them to a central unit. If the user has corrupted a file, or is using the desktop for non-business purposes, a manager can freeze that users function from the console. The console also holds information from every desktop, which can be backed up each night when business operations cease for the day, saving precious data in case of an emergency during off hours. On the largest scale operations, IT professionals will want a central location that acts as a console to the consoles.
The console switch (also known as a serial switch) is designed to link multiple consoles over large distances. It links multiple consoles from a single business site or many units in remote locations. From one central location, an IT manager can be allowed access to every console responsible for company interests. Instead of needing to have a physical body on location to address computer problems, the IT manager can sit at a desk, and access any individual computer through the switch, which gives him or her permission to resource data from a remote console.
The serial switch can be used to achieve the same functions as a single console, blocking access to an entire network of computers, or to log on to individual units. However, a switch does not have the ability to back up data. This process can only be done from the console, since the switch only allows remote access to the console. For example, the physical process of backing up data can be initiated from the serial switch, but to retrieve the backup, an employee would need to be on site.
Small businesses rarely need consoles, let alone a console switch. As a business grows however, efficiency is lost if IT professionals are always needed, in person, to address desktop management problems. At the point when several IT workers are unable to address daily concerns, a console can increase efficiency many times over. Once the company has become multisite, a serial switch will redouble the efforts of the business's efficiency.
