Where in the back of desktop to install wireless pci adapter?
My mom has a compaq presario SR2170NX desktop computer. I was interested in buying a wireless pci adapter for her computer to include in wireless network.
Where is the slot in the back of the computer to insert the adaptor into? I see two "slots" right above the ethernet port, but it's has like a metal strip covering it. Please help.
All ya have to do is open up your case and unscrew one or 2 small phillips screws to remove them metal coverings over the slot. and then once removed just put the wireless card into the pci slot and then make sure its lined up and securely into the slot and then screw it into where u took off the metal covering, or to mkake things aloty easier, buy a usb wireless card, all ya do is plug it into a usb slot, easy and no disasembly.. but if u choose the wireless card that goes inside make sure you put the card on the inside of computer and not try to push it through the back opening where metal covering is, u will see it will line up to screw wireless card into once u remove the metal covering, hope this helps, i not a professional but have done this few times. and i always went with usb after that, much easier.
